Holiday programme of the "Mária Pension":


Arrival:
dinner (aperitif, menu), welcome of guests, acquainting with the surroundings and the holiday programme.


1st day - easy - tourist

Breakfast in the pension.
The trip to Starý Smokovec, the centre of the High Tatras, then to Hrebienok by funicular, from there 30 minutes walking to the waterfalls of the Studený Potok. On the way back little refreshment in the oldest chalet in the High Tatras - the Reiner´s Chalet, where the museum of mountain porters is housed. Possibility of lunch in Hrebienok. In the afternoon - short tour of Poprad - the shopping centre, walking zone, market and banks. Return to the pension. Evening sitting in the garden. Dinner in the Tavern at an open fire. After dinner - watching video about Poprad, the High Tatras and their surroundings.

     
 
2nd day - relaxing

Breakfast in the pension.
Visiting the thermal swimming pool in Vrbov. (Thermal waters have beneficial effect on moving parts of human body). There are 5 pools with thermal water of various temperature, water toboggan and relaxing massages in the area.
Return to the pension, dinner in the garden with folk music, tasting Slovak sorts of sheep cheese and barbecuing. After dinner - unorganised amusement, dancing folk dances on the terrace.

   


 
3rd day - tourist - cultural

Breakfast in the pension.
Visiting Tatranská Lomnica, then up to the Skalnaté Pleso (lake) by cableway, from there up by cableway to the second highest peak in the High Tatras - Lomnický štít (2 633 m above sea level). In the afternoon - visiting the Museum of TANAP in Tatranská Lomnica (fauna and flora of the High Tatras). Dinner in the pension.

   


 
4th day - cultural

Breakfast in the pension.
Visiting the Belianska Cave in the village of Tatranská Kotlina. In the afternoon - visiting the Open-air Museum of folk architecture in Pribilina. Dinner in the pension.

   


 
5th day - relaxing

Breakfast in the pension.
Shopping in the town of Poprad. In the afternoon - tour of the historical centre of Poprad - Spišská Sobota.
Return to the pension - relaxing in the garden, walking in the near forest, picking mushrooms and wood fruit, sports activities (competition "Golden football boot" of the Maria pension).
Dinner - in the pension.

   


 
6th day - tourist

Breakfast in the pension.
Easy hiking trip to the mountain chalet of Kapitán Morávek at the Popradské Pleso (lake) (1500 m above sea level). Capable tourists can continue to the biggest lake in the Slovak part of the High Tatras - to the Hincové Pleso (1936 m above sea level).
Less capable tourists can have a rest at the chalet, walk around the Popradské Pleso. On the way back - visiting the Symbolic Cemetery in the High Tatras.
Dinner in the pension. After dinner - video-films for children.

   


 
7th day - relaxing

Breakfast in the pension.
Going to the thermal swimming pool in Bešeňová (possibility of massages). On the way back - visiting the wooden church in Svätý Kríž, which belongs to the biggest wooden buildings in Europe.
Dinner - in the pension. A disco in the garden (endurance dance competition - you may get a reward !!!).

   


 
8th day - tourist - discovering chamois and marmots

Breakfast in the pension.
According to weather and people´s condition - walking or going by bus to the Mountain Hotel of Sliezsky dom (1670 m above sea level), then ascending along the marked path past the Velický waterfall across Kvetnica, where you can see chamois and marmots, further to the Dlhé pleso (1929 m above sea level) under the highest Tatra´s peak - Gerlach (2654 m above sea level). Back to the Sliezsky dom, departure by bus or on foot. A stop at the relax centre in the Hubert hotel, where is the indoor pool with salty water, sauna, fitness centre, solarium, massages, whirling baths, playground for children, horses - possibility of riding, fishing, tempered tennis hall, garden skittles, garden chess and other attractions.
Dinner in the pension.

     


 
9th day - cultural

Breakfast in the pension.
Visiting one of the largest castles in Europe - Spišský hrad. On the way back - visiting the ancient town of Levoča, where in St. Jacob cathedral there is the highest gothic altar in the world, carved by Master Pavol.
Return to the pension, interesting exotic dinner - FONDUE "A LA MÁRIA".

   


 
10th day - tourist-cultural

Rafting on the Dunajec river, through the Pieninský National Park. The way back along the educational path walking or on hired mountain bikes or by bus.
In the afternoon there is a possibility of seeing round Kartuziánsky kláštor (monastery), where there is the museum of history, ethnography and pharmacy. Dinner in the pension. After dinner - video - films for children.

 


 
11th day - relaxing

Breakfast in the pension.
Having a rest in the pension or easy hiking along the forest road to the near sports centre of Lopušná dolina, where you can play tennis, or the same trip by mountain bikes.
On the way through the forest - picking mushrooms and wood fruit. Dinner in the pension.

   


 
12th day - tourist

Visiting well-known sports centre of the Štrbské Pleso (1355 m above sea level). Hike along a marked path to the biggest waterfall in the High Tatras - "Waterfall Skok". In the afternoon walking around the Štrbské Pleso.
Dinner in the pension. After dinner sitting at the open fire in the garden, "The Best Joke Competition" and a disco.

   


 
13th day - tourist - cultural

Breakfast in the pension.
Easy hike in the Slovenský raj (according to your choice). On the way back visiting the Dobšinská ľadová jaskyňa (ice cave) Dinner in the pension.

   


 
14th day - relaxing

Breakfast in the pension.
Having a rest at the largest dam reservoir in Slovakia - Liptovská Mara.
Optional activities:
- observation cruise
- borrowing water bikes
- riding "banana" after motor boat
- water-skiing
- beach volleyball
Farewell dinner party in the pension.


 
Winter programme is enriched by following activities:

- down-hill skiing
- cross-country skiing
- ski-alpinism
- trips for children in a one-dog sleigh
- making snowmen
- sledging
- ice-skating
- winter hiking
- ski-instructor for children - free of charge


 

For demanding hikers we have a hiking programme extended by ascents to Tatras peaks along marked paths, including: Rysy (2499 m above sea level), Kriváň (2494 m above sea level) Slavkovský štít (2452 m above sea level), Jahňací štít (2229 m above sea level), Východná Vysoká (2429 m above sea level), a passage along the Tatranská artery, passages of the Tatras valleys through mountain passes such as: Priečne sedlo (2062 m above sea level), Prielom (2290 m above sea level), Sedlo Závory (2062 m above sea level)...
Further we are offering ascents with mountain guide to Gerlachovský štít (2654 m above sea level - the highest peak in the High Tatras), Ľadový štít (2227 m above sea level), Vysoká (2447 m above sea level) and others.

Wonderful and very interesting hiking tours can also be accomplished in the Low Tatras or the Slovak Paradise.
Holiday-makers, who are interested in history and culture, can visit castles and manors in the near surroundings, such as Stará Ľubovňa castle, Oravský castle, Krásna Hôrka manor, Betliar manor ...., museums of folk architecture, caves (there are 12 of them open to public in Slovakia).
We try to have this programme tailor-made to guest groups composition, their interests, condition and weather. We also accommodate our activities to passive holiday-makers and we do our best to meet all requirements of our guests.
